Acomplia Rimonabant, or Acomplia as it is sometimes known, is among one of the prescription appetite suppressant medications used to help people lose weight.
This appetite suppressant is available only on prescription and is also used to help stop smoking.
We review Acomplia Rimonabant to see how effective it is in suppressing appetite and helping weight loss.
What is Acomplia Rimonabant?
According to the makers of this drug, Acomplia Rimonabant suppresses the appetite by preventing the absorption of chemicals in the brain that trigger hunger.
The manufacturer of Acomplia also claims that it can reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease because it specifically targets fat that accumulates around the waistline. This kind of body fat is associated with many medical problems, however no evidence exists that supports the claim that this effect is anything but coincidence.
Side-effects of Acomplia Rimonabant
Acomplia has received mixed reviews and has a long history of controversy due to some serious side effects such as suicidal thoughts. Individuals who have any history of depression or any type of mental illness are among those advised not to take Acomplia.
The drug has also been found to cause nausea, vomiting, depression, anxiety and severe changes in mood.
Does Acomplia Rimonabant Work?
Although Accomplia Rimonabant has some evidence that it has helped some people lose weight and stop smoking, it has an even larger list of problems. This is the reason why this medication has been on and off the market in the US and UK over several years.
The amount of weight the majority of subjects using Accomplia lost in studies was just 5% of their body weight. Other, safe and natural supplements have had similar effects, without adversely affecting your health.
Should You Try Acomplia?
In order to have access to Acomplia, you have to request a prescription from your physician. This means in addition to an insurance copy, you will also have to pay for an office visit, bringing the cost of Acomplia comparable to safer weight loss supplements that you can buy without a prescription.
If you are thinking of Acomplia, consider that you are mainly paying for the dangerous side effects. When considering there are over the counter appetite suppressants that have also been clinically proven and have little or no side-effects, then there seems little point in considering Acomplia Rimonabant!
